Happy April! The sun is shining and the days are getting longer. With spring and summer just around the corner, you might be wondering, “Where should I go? What should I do?”
We highly recommend visiting local museums and exhibitions! Each offers unique events and evolving showcases. Below is a list of my top suggestions, along with tips to help you get the full experience:
-
Isabella Stewart Gardner (https://www.gardnermuseum.org/) - This is one of our favorite places, not only for the beautiful building but for its rich history. From the art displayed in every room (featuring John Singer Sargent and Matisse, to name a few) to the story of the woman who brought the museum to life—and, of course, the famous art theft of 1990—there is so much to explore. Pro Tip: Bring your headphones! Each room has a guide or audio memo about the paintings and the history. Before April 14th, they have the famous Nastruims hanging in the palace to celebrate the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
-
Discovering King Tut's Tomb (https://kingtutexperience.com/boston/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=localcards&utm_campaign=532123_bos) - Have you ever wanted to go to Egypt or learn more about King Tut? This is the exhibit for you! It’s full of in-depth information about every artifact. While it's worth noting these are high-quality replicas, the experience is still incredible. There are add-ons like audio guides and a Virtual Reality experience that takes you on a journey through the tomb. Pro Tip: If you don't want to read every plaque, the audio guide is great, but the Virtual Realty is a must for a complete summary of the exhibition.
-
Museum of Fine Arts (https://www.mfa.org/) - As one of the most popular museums in the city, this is a must-visit for art and design fans. You could easily spend all day here exploring everything from ancient artifacts to contemporary masterpieces. Pro Tip: If you get hungry, you can eat inside or check out nearby Fenway favorites like Anna’s Taqueria or University House of Pizza.
-
Museum of Ice Cream https://www.museumoficecream.com/boston/) - Do you love ice cream as much as we do? (We are talking about ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!) This museum features interactive activities perfect for families and friends. Plus, at the end, you get to choose your favorite flavor and enjoy it in their dining area and more.
